Ram Aradhana

This is the sixteenth painting of the series. A ‘hat yogi’ is resting his left hand in a supporter and holding a long chimta with both the hands. He is sitting on a tiger skin and performing his sadhana with chandan (sandalwood) paste smashed all over his body. He is meditating under a Banyan tree, with aerial roots hanging from the tree. The tree is so old that some of the roots have penetrated the earth and is supporting the mother tree itself growing to a new tree. ‘Hat yoga’ is generally thought to be very tenuous mudras and yogic exercises, but it is simple a kind yoga where mind is trained to concentrate through different kinds of mudras, yogic exercises, techniques of breathing and different method of control breathing. By the power of concentration, anyone can use the untold power of mind and accomplish whatever he desires. Concentration is to put whole mind on one thing at a time. He is representing tapasvi Vibandaka – father of Rishyashringa, he was a seer, because he knew what others did not know. He practiced tapasya and created tapa the fire of mind, with tapa comes siddha, the power to control nature and power to compel god to fulfil his wishes. Rishyashringa – a young tapasvi with antlers, very well versed in the secrets of nature. Shanta – Dushrata’s daughter persuaded Rishyashringa to perform yagya so that her father could have sons. Shanta the intelligent and courageous daughter of Dushrata helped him to be father of Ram, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughan. The yogi is an old man with matted but very long hair which has been twisted and has encircled his head. The facial hair and the hairs of his head, both have few orange streaks. He has long van dyke facial hairs which have starter matting towards the end. He has Shri written on his forehead twice and Rama, twelve times. He has very unusual wavy eyebrow and a very sharp thin nose. The stones and boulders around him are smooth round with natural shades of grey, pink and green. The nearby area is not very flat with some lighter shades of dark green. The sky looks like an eastern sky of twilight. The upper sky is of orange changing into off white. Though it is just a dermis of a tiger still it looks full of life and as if it is roaring.
