Chaitanya
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was a 15th-century Indian saint considered to be the combined avatar of Radha and Krishna by his disciples. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu choose worshipping Krishna with ecstatic song and dance and this way of devotion had a profound effect on Vaishnavism in Bengal. In 1966 AD Swami Prabhupada founded his movement known as The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) to spread teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu throughout the world.
These paintings consist of 16 paintings made in the wash painting technique using watercolor on paper, in the year 1957 by Sanat Chatterjee. The main characteristics of these paintings are the monochromatic effect and portrayal of the environment with few figures with intricate detailing.
