This painting is of a sadhu who wants to visit Ramgardh. He is a Ram naami. He is holding a twisted stick in one hand and a rosary in the other hand. He is scared due to the bear standing on a rock. The milestone is indicating that he is twelve kilometres away from his destination. The sadhu fails to see Ram’s blessing, he is scared and feels that the bear on the path is stopping the progress. In fact if the sadhu follows the bear, he will be able cross the rocky hill. The bear is symbolic and represent Jambuvan – an wise old bear, who was convinced that prince of Ayodhya was Vishnu on earth. Jambuvan was in the monkey search party with Ram. He embodies the wisdom and patience that is associated with age. Jambuvan is said to be so old that he has witnessed Vishnu overpowering the asura-king Bali in the form of Vamana. He is the first to sing motivational song to Hanuman about his hidden strength and qualities which he was born with but had forgotten. The artist through the bear wants to initiate the same hidden strength and potency in the sadhu. The artist has painted white sun in red sky indicating Shri Ram as universal truth. The painting symbolizes our life. Shri Ram always help us to reach the destination of our life though we may feel it long with full of difficulty. The sun is showing the way with its bright light and helping the sadhu and the bear to see their destination. “Although life seems capricious, uncertain, and full of all kinds of troubles, still we are always under the guiding loving protection of God”. The sky is dark red in the background with Blue Mountains and dark colour big ancient rock boulders. The sadhu has matted hair and some of the matted hair is tied as a knot at the top of his head. He is wearing a rudrashka necklace which he is using as a band to tie his hair knot and is also having a rosary in his hand. He has a very big protruded forehead with two liner tilak. He has very interesting bifurcated eyebrows bridging together in the middle. The sadhu has little protruded eye and grey moustache and beard. There are two bushes growing on the rock in very harsh condition, with no proper soil and water but still it is flowering. The bear is also very well surviving in the land which has very little vegetation and which is not the natural habitat of the bears. The artist want to emphasize that Shri Rama takes care of all living beings in all the places, all the time.
