A shroud of mystery surrounds the death and disappearance of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Several conflicting hagiographic references to Sri Chaitanya’s Death/Disappearance exist. According to one version, Sri Chaitanya walked into the sea in a state of divine ecstasy and subsequently drowned. A fisherman subsequently brought the body out.
