Ram Shankh Vadh

This is the last painting of the series of thirty paintings. The artist has painted people of different lifestyle, profession and places who are devoted to Shri Ram. The artist, through this painting, wants to give the massage that Shri Rama is everywhere, he manifests himself in all living being, and he is part of every soul. It is not that Shri Rama is only found in temples. As Shri Shri Paramahansa Yogananda said “Self-realization is the knowing in body, mind and soul that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it comes to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing.” In this painting the artist has painted a sant (a holy man) who is blowing a conch and is engrossed in its sound. The conch has Rama written on it and that is the source of satisfaction for him. The sant is a young man with sharp features with dark brown hair, well shaped eyebrows, lotus petal shaped eye, sharp nose, cupid lips and well defined chin. He is wearing double pearl strings and a combination armlet of two pearls and one munga. In the painting the artist has painted river Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati merging in an enormous ocean, each river with a distinct colour. Different tones and lines of brown represent Ganges, the greens are for Yamuna and the sandy colour is for Saraswati. The upper layer of the river Saraswati is represented with fewer variations of colour and curves; and the lower part with a fish and curves. The artist has used a very unique method to show that the river Saraswati is flowing underground. He has also personified the rivers; Ganga as a crocodile, Yamuna as a turtle and river Saraswati as a fish. The artist has compared a human life with that of a river. The river from its source, the beginning flow through different path, flows throw different region ultimately completes its journey in the ocean. In the same way a human following different religious thought finally reaches to the ultimate truth.
